    CW-80 Transformer

    You can't beat the simplicity and looks. Easy to hook up and use. Just the right amount of power for a long train (8 or more cars) on an average 8 foot X 4 foot Oval set-up. My brother runs same oval set-up with 6 switch tracks and it's plenty for him too. I've heard they have had problems in the past but the jury is still out on reliability. I have 2 of them and my brother has 1 CW-80 and also the MTH Z4000. No problems to date. Ed Freeport, NY

    Bell and Whistle do not work.

    Received this item fairly quickly which was nice. It came in a shipping box but then the box that the actual transformer itself was in had been cut open prior. That was kind of sketchy. While it does provide a whole lot more power then my original 1978 Lionel transformer, the added Bell, Whistle, and Direction (supposed to change the direction train is traveling I can only assume?) buttons do not work. I paid about $50 less than this item would cost me at my local hobby store, so I guess its a deal, but with those added 'bells and whistles' (literally and figuratively) not working, I can only give it 2 stars.

    Bargain of the day

    Had a CW-40 which came with the train set. Added a few cars to the train and the old transformer would not generate enough power to run the train. Friend suggest the CW-80 to resolve the issues. Worked! Train runs beautifully with all the extra cars (4).
