Synopsis
The Instant New York Times Bestseller! A novel about the extraordinary partnership between First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt and civil rights activist Mary McLeod Bethune--an unlikely friendship that changed the world, from the New York Times bestselling authors of the Good Morning America Book Club pick The Personal Librarian . The daughter of formerly enslaved parents, Mary McLeod Bethune refuses to back down as white supremacists attempt to thwart her work. She marches on as an activist and an educator, and as her reputation grows she becomes a celebrity, revered by titans of business and recognized by U.S. Presidents. Eleanor Roosevelt herself is awestruck and eager to make her acquaintance. Initially drawn together because of their shared belief in women's rights and the power of education, Mary and Eleanor become fast friends confiding their secrets, hopes and dreams--and holding each other's hands through tragedy and triumph. When Franklin Delano Roosevelt is elected president, the two women begin to collaborate more closely, particularly as Eleanor moves toward her own agenda separate from FDR, a consequence of the devastating discovery of her husband's secret love affair. Eleanor becomes a controversial First Lady for her outspokenness, particularly on civil rights. And when she receives threats because of her strong ties to Mary, it only fuels the women's desire to fight together for justice and equality. This is the story of two different, yet equally formidable, passionate, and committed women, and the way in which their singular friendship helped form the foundation for the modern civil rights movement., The daughter of formerly enslaved parents, Mary McLeod Bethune refuses to back down as white supremacists attempt to thwart her work. Great seller! Will definitely buy from again. They communicated very well when the package got lost in the mail and we kept each other up-to-date and it was a very pleasant transaction even though I got the book late. They handled it very well and were very conscientious and professional the entire time. Very good seller! Highly recommend

They accidentally sent me the wrong game, not drastically wrong but there's a compilation and they sent me a single game in that game. They told me to return it,I declined . It's not worth the hassle. If I want to get the other game I'll probably just order another one.Sitting in a post office line isn't worth 5 bucks. Packaging if I remember correctly came in a bag covered in bubble wrap, fine for ds games. Value it only cost me 10 dollars, video games don't get much cheaper not in 2025

  • Very Well Written Story

Love the way these authors relay the story from each characters viewpoint. Only read a few chapters but love it and will finish it soon. Nothing salacious just a good story.

  • The First Ladies by Marie Benedict

It is a good review of history and the problems with segregation. The book makes the characters come alive . In the story you can almost imagine the real conversations these women have with each other. I learned some things I didn’t know and really enjoyed the story.

  • Eleanor Roosevelt was the First Lady of the US and Mary Bethune was very instrumental in the black community and worked for change for blacks.

Interesting topic. Easy read with every other chapter being about one of the two main characters.
