    Solid Controller

The pedal has a solid build and very even resistance throughout its whole movement range. It does not "spring" back and offers resistance in both directions. This makes it easy to use for fast or slow changes in the sound (such as fading effects in or out). It can be somewhat more difficult to use for precise control where small variation in position makes a significant difference in sound. Fortunately, it has a knob that can reduce the output range to improve precision. Overall, I'm glad that I bought it. It's a useful and high-quality controller.

    Roland EV-5 Expression Pedal

It works well for the price with my Fractal AX8 but not nearly as well as the EV-1 Fractal pedal. It sounds a little different and has a much shorter pedal throw and less smoothness. But that's compared to the Fractal which is 4 times the cost.

  • Roland EV-5 Expression Pedal

I currently use two Roland EV-5 expression pedals. I find that they hold up well for continued use. Very simple to operate. Very simple to navigate. There isn't much involved with setting up the Roland EV-5. I have found on numerous occasions that if I plug in the EV-5 to whatever effect I choose, it's best to plug into the effect before powering up the unit, there are exceptions however. And most times the need to 'calibrate' the pedal with the chosen effect is 'bone-head' simple. Users should consult their effects pedal's manual for compatibility and calibration The pedal housing is made of durable plastic. I have found that the plastic is reasonably strong enough for constant use. Vigorous use might really test the physical limits of this pedal's construction. The fact that the TRS cable is hardwired to the expression pedal chassis, most users will just accept their fate. If one is handy with soldering and splicing an audio cable then the cable length could be "custom" sized. Personally I'd like to see Roland just put a TRS jack in the front and offer up various TRS cable lengths. Maybe they could include one or two different TRS cable lengths for the customer's benefit? Not a bad pedal. It works as intended, reliably "expressing" the chosen effect The treadle and travel are accurate enough and seem solid. I have to admit after using Roland EV-5's on and off for years, they are generally very reliable, but I have concerns over the Plastic construction so much so that I am mindful not to "Mash down" on the pedal when engaging it's use.

  • Roland is always Roland

It's made very solid and durable. Not like some other brand with cheap plastic. And of course, it's quite smooth. This is exactly what I am expecting for a expression pedal. Highly recommended.

  • Very accurate and well made

There are bigger pedals with larger ranges but this is definitely worth the money. The adjustment knob is a nice feature.

  • cessary item on any pedalboard

I've been using these control pedals for at least two decades! They're the best! Light in weight, unlike other 'cast-iron' pedals, they are surprisingly sturdy in construction. I'm still buying them, as my arsenal expands.

  • The best most consistent expression pedal I have found

I have tried many other expression pedals but for me the gigging musician attached to a pedalboard these Roland EV-5’s are rock solid and have never failed me. I have at least one on every pedalboard and have used these with my axefx for years. Excellence in simplicity!!!

  • Roland EV5 Expression Pedal

I am using this expression pedal with the Boss DD-7 to control the effect level. The DD-7 has tap tempo so I can control two parameters on the fly, which is all I need. The EV% is light and compact and does the trick.
