This item arrived as described and on time. I gave the four star rating because I think it was banged up a bit in shipping (envelope type package with bubble wrap) and maybe should have been put in a box with bubble wrap. My son is giving this to his new wife on their wedding day so I didn't want to chance sending it back since it was the only new version I could find online for him. I think she'll love it anyway. Overall, I'd say I'm really pleased though and would recommend this seller.

The book arrived today in excellent condition; wrapped in protective bubble wrap, and protected in a study cardboard box that was perfect for the book size. The book has sentimental value and I asked Brenham Book Company for extra care to send the book and I was trully impressed by their reply and actions took. Truly a top shelf company that I will use again!!

    Warped and wonderful

People of a certain age will remember this nostalgic banger as "the one where Jenny's head falls off." Yes, many a childhood night was warped by the macabre magic held in these pages. The author is probably better known for his "Scary stories to tell in the dark" series, which contain the iconic illustrations by Stephen Gammel. The illustrations in "In a Dark, Dark Room," are more conventional (for the time) but in no way less affecting. The aforementioned illustrations from "the Green Ribbon" have traveled with me for nearly forty years. So grab a pillowcase and stuff it with snacks. Grab your copy of "In a Dark, Dark Room," and maybe a copy of "Superfudge" or a Roald Dahl and have your very own elementary school read-a-thon.

  • Childhood Book

I’m thankful I didn’t have to pay an arm and leg for this childhood classic though I didn’t like the fact there was writing in it surely a clean cover could’ve been found and also the spine is somewhat damaged but other then that it’s a good looking book.
