I got tired of the massive amount of printer ink I was going through on a low use inkjet printer. Most of the ink was used during start up to 'clean the printer head". Was really impressed with the reviews of the Canon MF731Cdw color laser printer and was really amazed at the price (which included fast free shipping) for this product. The printer was easy and fast to set up and start printing. It has truly exceeded all my expectations for ease of use, print quality, and quality of the item. Even for individual use (if you have the room, it is big), I highly recommend this product.

I love Canon products and this one is no exception. Setup, on the other hand, is painful. Every Canon printer I've had has been a challenge to set up. Getting the printer to be recognized by my computer has been a problem every time. Otherwise the printer is excellent, the print quality is wonderful and the print speed is very fast.

I would give this item 5 stars but haven't worked out how to print 4x6 glossy prints yet. Can't see the category for this function. Other than that I rate this printer highly for the speed and quality of its finished print jobs. The printer is on the heavy side but that is a good sign. This probably means good quality parts are used in its construction. Been using this printer a couple of days now and I am very happy with it.

I used this for about a year, with relatively few problems. Then I got a paper jam in the fuser area. Only about an inch of paper was sticking out. Printer said to pull on paper to remove it. Impossible, tore of one piece at a time. I consulted the Service Manual. To get the the fuser you must remove - left cover, right cover, rear cover, and top cover. And since the skimped on screws and used plastic claws, it is nearly impossible to do so. Ok, so I need to take it to canon for repair. Bummer. But it gets worse. It isn’t possible to get the name of a service center from their web site. You have to call them. Well that’s not very nice. But it gets worse! I was on queue for 39 minutes (using up my minutes) before having to answer an important incoming call. Called back and wait is over an hour! I will see if Micro center can fix it for less than $75. If not I will list it on eBay for parts. I have to wonder would design something so poorly. This is so complex that it would take an experienced technician at least 30 minutes (probably longer) just to clear a paper jam. Must have been designed by a kid right out of engineering school. Someone that probably never even used a printer. Too bad Samsung no longer makes printers! Edit: Finally called at at time when the wait time was "over a half hour" rather than "over an hour". It turns out this printer has a 3 year warranty, so it was covered. Rather than take it to be repaired I took advantage of their option to swap out for a reconditioned unit. So I have a working printer again, but still very worried abut the fact that I can't clear a paper jam. Raising rating from 1 to 3 stars. Edit: The longer I have this printer the more disdain I have for it. Lately I have been using the scanner and, in addition to an surprising number of misfeeds, I find that there is no easy way to adust image density. My child's homework (in pencil) is unreadable, as are the lab test results I scanned. Even using the web page there's no obvious way to adjust density for the scanner. And you cannot make two consecutive scans to a computer - it never finds the computer on the second scan, you have to reboot the printer first! So I am back to using my old plustek USB scanner which works better, but requires I take my computer to it since it isn't network aware. The printer and copier make good copies most of the time. But you do have to initiate various cleaning routines and stuff when image quality suffers. I have never had to do that with other printers. I truly think Canon must have outsourced the design and manufacture of this printer to some firm that doesn't have experience in this field. NOT what would expect from a company like Canon. It is too bad as I would like to like this printer, and I am stuck with it.Read full review

I was very unhappy with my HP color Laser printer, so I decided to switch brands and see how that worked. So far, a vast improvement. It doesn't fax, but I don't need that anyway. Printing the 1st page takes a bit longer than the HP did, but the output on the page is light years ahead of the HP color laser. As with all printers, the OEM toner costs more than the printer. So, we shall see how the print quality is when the starters run out and I'm using generic toner cartridges. I will update when I have some experience with it.
