I bought this for my kayak. The motor works fine, easy too start, but unfortunately the weight is just a bit much if it is side mounted in a kayak. If rear mounted it should be ok.

Side mounted on Hobie outback, Top speed of 8km/h, fuel consumption is around 16L/100km on full throttle. Pros: Cost effective, economical, Lightweight (Electric motos + battery is around 30kg) Cons: Noisy (same as the lawn mower or grass clipper), Not as fast as I expected (I thought this could do 20km/h). the kill switch is in an awkward position. If this could do 16km/h I wouldn't have minded the noise but for 8km/h... It's still cheaper and easier than carrying 20kg+ battery but for 8km/h...

Whilst it looks good but this is essentially a whipper snipper motor coupled to a propeller. It works I must say, but it's noisy (I bought a 4 stroke thinking it would be quiet) and parts started falling off it almost immediately including the mounts that allow the motor to be coupled to the boat.

I use the outboard motor to drive my 3M punt which it does very well. It is light enough for me to handle (I am 76 years old) and very responsive to steering changes and throttle changes. I have made 2 additions. (1) I have added a grab handle to the head end so it can be handled when the motor is hot. (2) The "kill" switch is hard to get to when out on the water so I have relocated it to the tiller arm. I love it.

A good little, light and reliable. Sometimes takes a few pulls to start but always runs.
