Value is subjective but it's AU10 bucks, so for what you are getting for 10 bucks it does its job. You can tell the construction and material is cheap and the USB plugs aren't as amazing a fit as on expenisve products or actual laptops - but they still work and plug in easy enough and also securely enough. I run my Epson photo scanner and wireless mouse dongle through an 8 year old Toshiba WIN 10 laptop fine. It also works fine with all 4 plugs in use when I need to plug in USBs and/or a portable external HDD (I've tried from 1TB up to my 5TB and works fine). I agree the cord is very short and only really convenient for ports at the front of your laptop or temporary use when you need to expand for a short time if your ports are at the back or Surface Pro. (Edit: for a permanent Surface plug in it will just dangle in your way at the side without an extension USB cord. I use mine on my Surface fine because I only use it temporarily transferring files so I can have my mouse dongle plugged in as well just because I hate track pads with a passion. So it works in the Surface, it's just not the best permanent extention). So I liked it well enough to buy 2 and not spend a lot of money for what is essentially a very basic task. Also this is not a powered USB port. Don't be marking it down because you don't know the difference. Your portable HDD will work but the proper external SATA or whatever require a more expensive product the explicity states it is powered. Read full review

I plugged in multiple USB sticks as my aim was to transfer files from one to another without having to transfer from my computer hard drive and my computer (HP spectre) didn't recognize any more than one USB device making this item as useless as using one hole. It's a shame. Maybe it's something I've done as I'm not very tech savvy.

It seems everyone is selling USB 3 hub with too short cables (10-15 cm long) which are good enough for any desktop PC or Mac if you connect it at the front of the case. However, if you are connecting to the back of the PC, then it is really inconvenient to access the hub. At least 30 cm cable length would be ideal. The designers of USB hubs have washed their brain off as if they have no clue as to how a hub is connected to the motherboard of a PC externally. Generally front usb ports of a PC are different to the back ports. I have no USB 3 ports on my PC at the front as my PC case is much older than the motherboard and processor. USB 3 hubs are much faster than USB 2 and ideal for connecting multiple devices. USB hubs with short cable is good for lap tops and other portables, but not that great for desktops.Read full review

This device isn't the greatest, although for the price it does function adequately. The main thing I found disappointing was that it doesn't relay the 5w power supply from my laptop to my portable HDD. I bought it to copy media from one HDD to another in one action rather than duplicating the process on my surface pro which only has one USB port. I can't use it for the purpose that I bought it for. It also doesn't fit tightly into the USB and feels like it might fall out.
