    Okay for a small layout but not for a matrix application

    This unit does not produce as much 'kick' as the older gaugemaster one that I was trying to replace. It doesn't throw three solenoids together and is a bit slow to re-charge after discharge. Even with uprated wiring it seems to lack 'oomph' Functional but disappointing. I've reinstated the old one.

    Powerful unit

    Gives a strong signal, four 4700uF capacitors do the business-better than the other two I’ve tried from other manufacturers. Professionally built onto purpose built PCB. Recharges quickly, about 1 second. Has an LED status lamp, amber = charging, red = ready. Even so, watch out for voltage drop on long cable runs on larger layouts over 10 metres long. Don’t bother with other units, wish I had bought this one first time. Recommended.

    Quick Reaction

    This is probably the biggest CDU available and since fitting it I have noticed that my points change quicker and the action is a lot more positive. The recharge time is almost immediate and easily operates 4 points at the same time. I would recommend this as an upgrade on any large layout.
