    Great movie!!.

    I bought this dvd to replace my video copy of the same thing. The video was fading and I knew it wasn't going to be good much longer. I love this movie!! This new dvd is excellent quality and came promptly.

    A beautiful princess flees France to avoid marrying for political reasons and someone she does not love.

    The chemistry between Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald is superb and the story is so engaging. It has always been one of my very favorite classic movie.

    one of the best old musicals

    I love old musicals. I had Naughty Marietta in vhs tape. The princess (Jeanette McDonald) escapes to New Orleans to avoid marrying the old king of Spain. In the new world, disguised as a commoner, she falls in love with the mercenary (Nelson Eddy). Jeannette McDonald and Nelson Eddy did 8 musicals together. They are all basically the same, however, their music is so beautiful. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who loves old musicals and gentle stories.
