      Still Does the Job

      These switches have been around for years but still do the job. Generally they are reliable once installed. They need a decent throw from the motor, but most people have provided good capictor discharge suppllies. They can be fiddly to fit though and your point motor itself needs to be well positioned first. You will probably be using fairly light wiring, which can break away easily when soldered unless you are carful and gentle. You can use them to control power on the point itself, or as I do switch signals. I find it quite useful to have the signals switch automatically because I can instantly see how points are set from a distance.

      PL-13 Switch Can Be Temperamental

      This switch is used by attaching it to the underside of a turn out point motor. I use it to change the R406 signal lights so I know what direction the train will take. ( Red = Left & Green = Right ). However on fitting the switch it sometimes blocks the point motor from switching, and on other times the light R406 goes out as it does not fully connect on switching. However overall I have fitted 36 of these switches to my layout and mostly they work. So at least the cost is low when they fail. £3.80 Enda Cadwell

      very useful for the three way point.

      these two switchs have sorted out my three way point, peco manufacture. i tried an ordinary 4 pole double throw switch, but could not get it to work. i bought some small screws and nuts, 1.2 mm dia. these will enable me to operate the switchs by hand.
