It's completely plastic with the exception of the included battery (whose compartment is hard to find) and the magnets on the legs which will be useful if your table is made of steel but not so much if it is aluminum or cast like most people's are, then you're going to have to hold it down with one hand while adjusting with the other. Also, there are no instructions included. If none of that bothers you it looks to be a pretty handy tool, we'll see :)

A clever idea
I was actually searching for a different style of caliper when I saw this in my search results and though what a cool idea. I have used it 5 or 6 times in the last few months. The only down side is on of the magnets was not glued in well enough an got left behind on a surface I was resting it on. It took a little while before I noticed, then then quite a while to back track an work out where it was. The micro screws that have to be removed...
The micro screws that have to be removed in order to place the battery in it were very difficult to remove or even loosen. Even though I was using a brand new set of jewellers screwdrivers only 2 screws could be extracted, the other two had been over tightened and were impossible to budge using hand tools. I have a tool which can't be used and am frustrated at not having the precision at my disposal to finish a number of hand made gifts for the grand children.The micro screws that have to be removed in order to place the battery in it were very difficult to remove or even loosen.
