    Beautiful visual quality with TONS of bonus features.

    If you love Trek and you think you're getting everything on Netflix, I gotta say NUH-UH! The great thing about discs is that you get bonus features that are never on any of the streaming sites, so if you're really interested in Trek, consider discs for all of the awesome bonus features. Especially this series, which had levels of network and franchise interference that was unheard-of for the three previous series. If you really want to know "WHY did they do THAT?," bonus features are the place where you might find out stuff like that. The visual quality is quite good because it was mostly filmed in HD or at least higher quality than any of the other series. Really happy with my purchase, and just FYI, even if you own the DVDs there are WAY more extras on the Blu Rays, so maybe consider ...

    Too Much Grain Of Salt

    The video is so grainy on a 60 inch TV widescreen that it detracts from the viewing experience. Can't believe a studio backed product would be produced so poorly. I am guessing somebody decided to record/edit this Star Trek series using the slowest possible digital bit rate. Think back to the days when saving money meant recording 8 hours of TV shows on a 2 hour VHS tape. I guessed low bit rate recordings but it just as well could have been compressed video repeatedly edited and saved between each edit as compressed video. Whatever the case, only the surround sound, menus and commercials for other discs are of acceptable quality.
