    A guide for Stalkers and fixers alike

    This book is where it all began. Leads into the Zone by the nose, closes your eyes, spins you round and gives you a shove. No anomaly this; survival is on you. This should be mandated reading for any Sci-Fi fan. It should probably be on school reading lists. Far From The Madding Crowd is a perfect summary of the book but this is well written and keeps you hooked to the end. Unlike Hardy's turgid tripe.

    Great title.

    If you have seen the film (stalker) this is the book, when alien visited earth they left artifacts scattered around, this is known as the zone, creating a black market for the articles.

    Compelling.

    A masterpiece of SF. The writers deftly convey much of the imagined world in few words. The main character is cynical and resigned, but the overall effect is compelling. I did not want it to end.
