I have the tweed covered version of the legendary 7-100, so it sounds the same as the leatherette covered version. I was very surprised at the rich tone of this amp. I am using it with 6 AA's not the power supply (dont know what difference that makes tonally) and it sounds like a tweed champ. You can get clean tones that have just a touch of twang with single coils or weaker humbuckers (gretsch) at a lower volume and form 1/4 of the way up you get progressively more and more tweedish ( let's face it-tweed breakup is basically distortion that fuzzes up as the gain increases) type distortion. With a tele you are in rolling stones territory, and with a humbucker equipped guitar you are in Neil Young land. It is awesome for recording, just stick your mic in front and go! It takes pedals well also. I love the simplicity-no time spent tweaking controls, plug in and rock. That said; this is not an ideal amp for a young beginner guitar player. A young kid will not appreciate what this amp gives. But for experienced players who like a "tweed' tone at a dirt cheap price this cannot be beat. Also, dont listen to the nonsense from guys who own one of the "original" ones that these new ones are no good-that's crap. The circuit has not changed regardless of who constructs it.Read full review
A WONDERFUL STRAIGHT FORWARD NO FRILLS GUITAR AMP! This amp is surprisingly loud enough to hear properly, has a fuzztone and also sounds great clean. I used it full volume which makes full distortion but if you cut your volume knob on your guitar down it becomes crystal clean and sparkling highs. I play it with a Fender Stratocaster and it sounds great! Battery operated or with an adapter it works great. I also like the strap buttons on the amp that you hang the amp on your should with any guitar strap and walk around playing.

This amp is super fun to play with. You can take it anywhere and surprisingly the batteries last a long time. I've played it for probably close to 8 hours already and haven't charged the batteries. The door is a really nice feature. You can close the door for a louder more midy sound or open for more highs and a smoother sound. The fuzz sounds great when you turn your guitars volume up. The secret to playing this is to have the volume all the way up all the time and control fuzz with your guitar volume and control tone with the door. You can stuff something like a pillowcase inside to get even more fuzz (not much more). Really great amp for the value, I use it more than my Bugera V22. It does get surprisingly loud (maybe 5 on a 20W amp) for such a small amp. It weighs only a couple pounds, has a nice carrying handle and a rugged enclosure. I am a very happy customer :)Read full review

OK, I'm a guitar player/builder/repair tech (for 46+ years now). I collect/repair/buy/sell these things and have owned dozens of em in varying years and all of the limited editions, these are great little amps, the older ones do sound a little better than the newer ones, regardless, they all sound great. The portability/battery power makes em great for travel, camping , street performance. Also the line out makes em great for recording, use as an overdrive, or going direct into the PA. They are tough as nails, I've taken and used em everwhere you can imagine, even had one fall down a flight of stairs once, still worked fine. I even took one across Lake Ontario on a small boat. They are also a great harmonica amp. The available AC adapters are handy but I usually just carry spare batteries. One final "note" (pun intended)if you opt for the AC adapter, I reccomend spending the few extra bucks for the regulated version (the non regulated ones produce some hum) again, I just carry extra batteries !!Read full review
This is Awesome for it's size & Sound! My friend had one of the 1st one's that came out! I made a small portable amp w/ a 10" speaker; but his would sound so much better! I had to have this NEW Tweed Model! To go with my Tweed Fender case & vintage Fender guitars! I love that it has the preamp out feature, I plug it into my Tweed Blues Deluxe 'amp in' feature & it sounds so perfect 'bluesy' too! It's definetly worth getting!
5W. Portable. Battery powered. 9V adapter concealed inside the box. Clean output. And that's just the basics. Great clean sound at lower volumes; when you crank this baby it puts out dark, raunchy distortion like no other amp or pedal you've ever heard. Being portable and battery powered, this is a great little travel amp. Hell, take it camping! If that's not enough for you, you can open the speaker cabinet to thin out the sound. Opening and closing the cabinet by hand produces a wah-like effect... much, much cooler and better sounding than a tone knob (which a guitar has on it anyways!) Oh, and did I mention the ridiculously low price tag? Five stars, hands down, two-thumbs up. It's a winner.
As many other guitar players I `v been searching for a small practice amp that would allow me to bang on my guitar without raising arguments with neighbors and family. I`ve tried a couple of small amps from various manufacturers but I wasn`t satisfied with them, some were just too loud others sounded artificial and thin, and all suffered from the same problem: they were not sensitive enough to playing dynamics, thus could not deliver the performance as played. Finally I’ve decided to try Pignose Legendary and check it out for myself if that Pignose legend is really a legend and not an anecdote or whatever. To cut long story short I bought one on E-bay, at the respectable seller named Guitarsuperhero. The unit, a brand new Tweed Edition Legendary 7-100 Guitar Amp (Made in China) arrived well packed (actually double-packed, thumbs up for the seller) and appeared to be a solid, well build device. No issues on assembly or appearance. Apart from the amp and necessary manuals the package contained some cool stickers “I play through Pignose”, “I love my Pignose” and such featuring an actual shiny pig nose with a warm loving heart beside it – nice sense of humor and creative as well. Now for the most important – the moment I plugged in it I realized that this thing is going to be the solution for me - the amp turned our very responsive, vibrato, bends, playing dynamics are reproduced just as good as on any bigger, “proper” amps. The volume is sufficient for playing at home – not too loud and still very present, its 6` dynamic pushes the air well. To sum up the general impression: this little tweedy offered a whole palette of distinct sounds, which are unlike anything I`ve ever heard and proved to be versatile for many styles. Now to the guitars I used to test it: Gibson SG Standard 1973, Fender MIJ 57`Strat 1990, Danelectro U2-56, Korean, first reissue. The sweetest and most sustaining tones I had from Gibson, which is pretty obvious, also it sounded best with heavy stuff- “Paranoid” by Black Sabbath sounds ultra-cool ) Dano offered its typical jangle, and it could swell and also, while pushed harder, offered some crazy tones which, believe me or not, reminded me of the early Kinks records. Strat (with this amp) turned out to be the least interesting, perhaps because normal Strat sound is strongly associated to me with glassy, reverb-awashed surf stuff or precise clean bluesy tones. This amp just can`t offer those since it has very little clean headroom, gets distorted/fuzzy pretty easily. Rolling off the volume knob on guitar won`t help much here. If you wish to play it clean (actually slightly crunchy – would be nearer the mark) you`ll need a guitar with single coil pickups(but not too hot), like a traditional Telecaster, or something like the Dano that I`ve used, and have to play it with a lighter touch. That said – It doesn`t mean you can`t have fun with humbackers, with them you can get some sweetest tones out of it, but you won`t get near any clean sound worth speaking of. If my Pignose ever gets stolen or broke (which I seriously doubt, keeping in mind the quality it is made) I`ll definitely buy another one because It`s such a great practice tool which delivers the essential feel of playing live through the amp, something that an unplugged practicing will never deliver. And it is a good deal for the bucks.Read full review
I was looking for a portable bass amp to use it everywhere in the house. It's perfect. Sound very good. No distorsion at low volume. And low volume is loud enough to play with radio, percussion, etc. With guitar and High volume It's crazy loud. Impressive. Not sure about the Life of the batteries. Maybe if you can plug it in with a 9 volts adapter, It's better. Anyway for the price. It's a excellent product.

Could not believe this amp. I use this a lot when I just want to do something quick or simply play around. It goes on trips, it goes from room to room, it goes outside on the deck, very easy. Have had great fun with this little Beast! The sound is really incredible!
