So far so good. All features work the way they should, if you have some knowledge, otherwise I wouldn't get this item. Battery life is an issue, but if you have an extra set of batteries, you good to go. Size is very compact and easy to carry and light as well. Definetly worth the money.
The best thing about this flash is the power. I also like the relatively low profile. It reminds me of my Metz 32z2. Unlike the Metz, it does not have swivel capability, and there is no zoom setting ( a minus since I'm using this on a v3). Sony has made more advanced flashes since this one, but they won't fit the v3 because Sony now uses the old Minolta hotshoe. Still, the flash came to me in excellent condition, and the price was right. I don't plan to go any deeper with Sony, but who knows?
Best Flash unit you can get for the Sony Cybershot series cameras with the hotshoe! Advanced features and flash distance make this the flash of choice. I bought this for my F828 camera, and it's great, abet it sucks batteries dry quickly - but a fair tradeoff!
One of the few flash attachments for the Sony DSC717. Even though I have a newer Nikon this camera still does great night shots and 5MPix still is all that is needed for most photos and when you photos are to catch poachers or other similar night activity I still prefer my sony

I have owned a Sony HVL-F32X for 10 years and it has never let me down. Recently it was stolen and I found an exact replacement on eBay, so pleased.
