Moldiver is a mildly amusing OVA.... worth the time if you can pick it up cheap. Those who are snobbish anime purists will hate this, but the rest of us can get some laughs and be entertained by this almost farcical foray into mecha suit anime. Like most mecha anime, the laws of physics are ingnored, but in Moldiver, the characters openly give physics the middle finger! It's like watching small childern playing with action figures, making up the rule as they go. Most of the time, the silly antics made me laugh; sometimes because the scenes were genuinly funny, other times because it was so unapologeticly absured. This is definately more of a comedy than a serious mecha series. As for the style, it's typical '90s anime, with sometimes ridiculous looking characters and animation that tries to be detailed and crisp, but falls short of today's standards. If you get a kick out of the old school anime series, you'll enjoy this (I like some of the old campy anime from the '80s & '90s). The story line is about as lame as any mecha suit series, but with a twist that makes this series fairly entertaining. As someone who enjoys epic battle scenes, the fights were pretty short and kinda lame about half the time. Oh, and there's plenty of "fan service" and a little profanity, so not for the kiddies, but probably okay for teenagers.Read full review
