If you're looking for small, punchy, clear monitors, this is the one. For background purposes, I initially purchased the Behringer MS16 on a whim and tested the Maudio AV42 and the MX3 at Guitar Center. Three monitors in total. The MS16s had no bass at all, and when you turned up the bass knob, it was muddy. I bought a pair with regret and returned it immediately. The AV42s had a muddy bottom. As soon as I noticed it, I said "next." Soon as I listened to the MX3s, it was a no brainer. Plenty of bottom end. Wasn't muddy. Highs were clear. Kicks were punchy. I was very impressed. I don't use them as my main monitors, although I've gotten good mixes out of them. (They are revealing.) Instead, I have a small setup in my bedroom so I don't disturb the baby. Works great for my needs (late night producing). It gets loud. But anything past the halfway point of the volume knob and the woofer can't handle it, distorting the audio. Even at 50% volume, though, it's plenty loud. Party in your bedroom loud. Mind you, these speakers are sitting close to my ears (4 ft max). Great nearfield speakers. Highly recommended.
