This is a semi professional camera which isn't just a point and shoot for the age of the camera it still does remarkably well and the quality of the photos are exceptional if you are willing to learn digital photography this is the camera to get

I believe the Nikon D300s is an very underrated camera particularly where we have buyers scrambling for newer versions. The D300s is an excellent camera with professional features that lends itself particularly well to telephoto work. The professional features combined with the APS-C format sensor provides exceptional magnification with even modest telephoto lenses. The camera should not be overlooked by avid amateurs and enthusiasts alike.I believe the Nikon D300s is an very underrated camera particularly where we have buyers scrambling for newer versions. An exceptable purchase for the price.
small issue with the battery grip, the battery seems to go flat in it, this also includes when a new battery is used. other than that, every thing else works ok given the age of the camera.

Great value for money not a d4 but not $4000 either
I purchased the d300s for a number of reasons 1st I needed a good top end camera and I think Nikon build that I already own 2 other Nikon cameras & 2 Pentax cameras But I needed a camera with a auto focus motor in the camera not the lens and the d300s has that. The camera had to be strong as it gets used for nature photography so it is not pampered I look after my equipment but at times it is used in adverse conditions & the d300s handles this very well. Picture quality is excellent it is coupled to a 80- 400mm Zoom for wildlife shots and handles very wellI purchased the d300s for a number of reasons 1st I needed a good top end camera and I think Nikon build that I already own 2 other Nikon cameras & 2 Pentax cameras But I needed a camera with a auto focus motor in the camera not the lens and the d300s has that.
