Lighthearted, hilarious show in a great set.
Mama's Family is simple, but so entertaining! Characters and sets are vivid and colorful - especially Thelma. Simple situations and everyday problems, nothing heavy, but everything doesn't have to have a serious message about morality, life, or society, does it? We have enough of that with programs on now. It's great to have a show like this from the 80's that just makes you laugh. What I love most about the arrangement of this set is that each case is its own season which can be purchased individually. So, if I happen to find a bad disc months from now, I won't have to replace the whole set to replace the disc - I can just find and purchase the one season I need. That isn't always true with many other TV show box sets, which often have different discs, different material and different ... Mama's Family is simple, but so entertaining! I have many box sets and this is one of my favorites! (And as usual, purchase from a legitimate seller who guarantees authentic DVDs! If you see poorly printed materials or artwork, if inserts are missing, and/or if the cases and discs are scratched or gritty, do some investigating.)

Several disks don't work at all
The series itself is hilarious, dysfunctional, engaging with great actors who not only act well, they are musically talented and can out dance anyone on AGT. The problem is one to 3 disks won't work in each season. Now I have to ship it back for a replacement. Not worth the money.

No better box set for Mama's Family than this!
The box set of Mama's Family is everything I have ever wanted in a good box set. For example, it not only has the special features and interviews, it also has photos of which characters are in a specific season on the individual DVD cases (they change!). Each case inside the main box has a good summary of whats in that particular season on the back of the DVD case. There is even a booklet inside each case that tells you even more info about that season that isn't on the back of the case. And they seemed to be perfectly restored episodes.The box set of Mama's Family is everything I have ever wanted in a good box set. Funny and entertaining
The old sitcom's are the best!!! The characters are developed in such a way you can see a little bit of real life people you may know or have met in each one. These older sitcoms are entertaining because the subject matter in each episode is classic and timeless. No subliminal social or political agendas attempting to brainwash the viewer. Just good funny entertainment!

Exactly as expected for a much lower price!
So I saw this exact same DVD set on another well known site for almost 3 times the amount as I got it on here. I was a bit leery but ordered anyway and very pleased! The entire 6-season set comes with an insert about the characters and a list of all the episodes plus bonus features. Bought this set for around $42 on here when it was $112 on another site. Glad I checked here before purchasing!
