Exceptionally creative words and illustrations that is executed with skill and imagination. A fantastic gift for anyone, especially children. A society of creatures (dinosaurs) and humans that captured ideas on building a society and again, the story is full of exceptional illustrations translating the words into the visuals. From very young even into adulthood. James Gurney created a new land, complete in every way, and beautifully rendered.
Over the decades I have bought about 10 of these books. I want every child I know to have a copy. This book is a perfect gift. The story is great, the characters wonderful, and the artwork is the best. The pure imagination and time to create and fill out this "world" is beyond my reckoning. I am so grateful that the artist carried it out. He even created a Dinotopian alphabet and carried it out on the signage and on the monuments. Incredible! The subsequent movies are a testament that this classic will appeal to everyone, not just children.Over the decades I have bought about 10 of these books. I want every child I know to have a copy. Dinotopia-A Great Addition to a Personal Library!
I had checked the book out at the library and recently finished reading it to my children. The story is interesting and adventurous, but it is the pictures that are truly beautiful. The pictures are like beautiful paintings with attention to detail, and bright and bold colors. It inspires both children and adults alike to daydream about the possibilities. Often we would stop to talk about the pictures and imagine what we would do if we were there. It was a great reading experience. After reading it, we knew we had to have a copy for our personal library. Shopping on Ebay allowed us to own one for a reasonable price.I had checked the book out at the library and recently finished reading it to my children.
