    Like Bill Bryson does fiction.

    I thought it would be good but it turned out to be on of the best books I've read in a long time. I'm not sure why it and its author, Chris England aren't more widely known. The story is set in the entertainment world just before cinema took off, with, among others, spot-on fictional versions of Stan Laurel and Charlie Chaplin. The author really gives you a good picture of the times and the story was so good., I read it in a couple of sittings. An enjoyable and clever book that's excellent too if you're interested in the history of a hundred years ago.
