I have foud history boring on many occassions.... But not by reading this book. It is like a fairy tale, not too detailed, not to long. Not too many dates or boring facts, but anecdotes that make learning interesting. The author is great at talking to kids,as she explains each word that they may not understand, therefore increasing the readers vocabulary at the same time they learn history. Some of the dates are wrong (for instance the year she states Mexican Revolution was - being Mexican I know that year by memory, and can sing all the national songs that include it), but unless you need your kid to know the exact dates for historical events, if you need him ir her to know historical figures and events, this is the book to buy!! It is expensive, but it is worth every penny.
We use this as a read aloud in our homeschool day. Nothing like coloring or playing legos while learning about World History.
