Ready to step up my harmonica practice to include amplified sound. Combine the Shure mic with a small Crate amplifier. Results, unlike my playing, are spectacular. The mic fits nicely into my hand and the volume control lets me fine-tune the sound quality. There is a reason this mic has been in use for years for harp players. i love it.

First choice of pro harp players. Mine is 50 years old and it is still going strong. So excellent of a gritty harp sound. Get one of these folks. You'll thank me later🤠

The Shure 520DX is the quintessential Blues harp microphone. From its deep, mellow, bassy Chicago Blues sound, to it's crisp highs, it provides the rich tones and growl you need for a true blues harp sound that's like no other microphone. If you're a serious Blues harp player, the 520DX is your microphone. It's elegant form conforms effortlessly to your hand regardless of your playing style. The "green bullet" is my mic of choice, which is why I have several of them in my Slim's customer harp case. Try one; you won't be disappointed!
Whether you are a beginner or advanced harp player the Shure 520DX should be in your arsenal when you go out to play. Commonly known as the Green Bullet this microphone has been the industry standard for decades. Its high impedence element will bark out what you need to stay in the mix. My favorite feature is the ability to raise or lower your volume with an easy access knob built directly onto the mike. Some players find the Green Bullet a tad heavy and too big to cup in in their hands. I myself, have big hands and do not have this issue. I would reccomend trying one out before you buy to make sure you are comfortable with its weight and size. These mikes are built tough and are extremely durable unlike others that have broken with minimal use( Yes you Peavy !!!). One other great feature is this mike is ready to go. No adapters or special cables needed...just plug in the 1/4 inch jack and wail away !!! Overall, I would say the Shure 520DX is a very good value and many are available at fantastic prices online. Heck I have even used it as a vocal mike to sing out of... it is that versatile !!!Read full review

Anyone that knows microphones already knows that the Shure 520DX is THE standard when it comes to amplifying a harmonica. The tones of this microphone are bar none the best and forever have been the exacting standard that is used for both live performance as well as recording in a studio. Easy to handle and cradle and get the tones that you want out of it, it is the mic of all the greats who have ever blown harp. When you play harmonica, comfort and control, ensuring you can still bend without any complication, all are easily achieved with a green bullet mic and I would recommend this mic to the most basic beginner as well as the seasoned professional.
