The Seeker, watch the film, forget the book , Exciting, great price.
The Dark is Rising is a good book in a five book series and I enjoyed it enough to seek out a DVD. I am very much into a visual experience and if the visual rendition follows the book, that is fantastic. For bookworms the film will disappoint. The changes made to the story to allow for a rendition of some of the themes detract from the quality of the original story. This is probably why the entire fabulous book series, as happened with Lord of the Rings, Superman, Star Wars and StarTrek did not as yet develop. Look, the location was altered, the plot was Americanised, it was after-all an English story set in England, Oh, that's enough. STILL, it is an exciting film and if you have not read the books and just want a very different theme, buy the DVD, sit down and enjoy. The ... The locations I believe are in Poland or some European country and very interesting, there is nail biting sequences, there is good animation effects, the film has all the scary plots that should entertain. BUT sadly was a huge turn off for the fans of the book series. I liked and enjoyed it, my wife, the librarian hated it. So two points of view, for one film. AND the BEST part, the price was right, so watch the film, forget the book, simply enjoy the experience for what it is. DIFFERENT and EXCITING.
