The delivery firm, FedEx, took it to a shop that operated as a depot several miles from my address but left a message at my home saying it was left with neighbours or in a "reception area". I contacted them and after several attempts found where it was. FedEx were careless.

Great value and very capable
What a great value the D700 is at current used camera prices. Still a very capable camera and a respectable all-round performer. Built like a tank and while some of the controls are a little quirky (e.g. having the Live View on the shutter command dial), it still functions well. With low shutter count count mint or near mint examples at half the cost or less than the D800 and a third the cost of a D610, this is outstanding value. 12mp is enough for most situations other than where extreme cropping is required and image quality is still up there with current entry and mid level full-frame cameras.What a great value the D700 is at current used camera prices. It’s not the newest or the latest but it will give you a unreal image and colour that new cameras can not produce. It’s also full frame and not aps-c.

An often overlooked fantastic camera, the Nikon D700
A full frame digital camera, the Nikon D700, for a great price. A digital camera that proves you don't need 40/50/60 megapixels to get great images. This camera is fantastic, I'm still trying to get to grips with its full potential. Very happy, thanks for making it available. It will 'point and shoot' but best as a photographic thinking man's camera.

Comparable batteries and layout of controls same as my existing Nikon Cameras. I shoot for magazine's and in many cases 12 mb in raw file is an over kill as magazine's print at 300dpi
