This is the first radio I have had with a remote control. I have it connected to my HiFi system via the line out so I do not know what it's own speakers are like. I fine the quality is excellent (depending on the DAB source). I find it easy to select the preset DAB and FM channels and mp3 playback if required. The text on the screen is a bit small and you have to go close to read it, I would have preferred a larger scrolling text. The "ReVu" function is great and I have used it to go back and listen again. When in standby mode it gives a nice big clock display.

It was completely unusable. The description of it's condition was a complete lie. I had owned an Evoke 3 for over 10 years from new which was absolutely brilliant in terms of sound quality , ease of use and reception. The record facility was great. It's such a shame that this model is not still being made.

The Evoke 3 has everything I want from a radio. It's packaging claims it to be "the world's most advanced digital radio" I must agree. It's chunky, feels solid and well made, certainly the sound is impressive - rich, with clarity and depth. The controls are all positive, buttons when pressed have a satisfying click so you know something's happened and the volume/tone knob has a nice notchy feel when turned. Although I have the owners manual, I successfully navigated all the many options available with ease and without reference to it. I absolutely love this radio. I love the ease of operation, the flexibility the Pause and Revue gives and the simplicity and success of making a recording on it. Why this radio was discontinued and not updated with Bluetooth totally mystifies me. The Pure Evoke3 for me is pure joy.Read full review
I purchased this as faulty (One channel not working)but the seller said it still sounded good. It did but in earlier years being a radio and microwave techy thought I might try and fix it. Well worth the effort as after changing the amp chip and a dodgy headphone socket the device is as good as new. Not easy I might say I had to download all the data sheets on the chips used as a diagram of the device is impossible to find. I actually created my own circuit layout sheet, crude but enough. The radio itself is I think the best in its class. The ability to program via epg just like modern recorders is excellent. Still a little primitive but you can program a series from radio 4 extra for a week and listen to a play all in one go later. Files are recorded to a SD card (2 Meg max). Sound quality is very good and the system easy to operate. The radio comes with a remote control and PSU but lacks a rechargeable battery available for about £30. You can however run the radio from normal batteries. Sensitivity is excellent the best I have found so far. All in all a good looking device with all the facilities one could hope for. It is firmware upgradable but I am not sure as of yet how it will handle the new DAB formats coming out soon though speculation says it will be fine. This was a good deal and the seller included his new remote and PSU from his replacement radio...another Pure Evoke 3!!! Do not take on a repair if you are not confident, digital issues can be complex and beyond most folks abilities and possibly including mine!!!!Read full review
Good product and works very well with excellent sound quality. The only slight complaint is the display light seems to be quite dim but otherwise very pleased with it
