Great Tactical Game.
If you're a warhammer, it's a great value. I bought it as a backup copy, I don't like "Steam" at all, If want to play a PC game, I want to play it when I want to, weather I have access to the "Net" or not.

One DVD, 7 races, 3 games, can't beat that!
Dawn of War is a critically acclaimed RTS game with intense battles and gruesome yet beautiful graphics. Each expansion pack adds new races and units to the game bringing the total number of races you can play to a whopping 7 (9 if you buy the latest expansion that is not included in this edition). Although each race isn't COMPLETELY different from each other (I would say the races boil down to about 5 unique ones), they do offer different playability options and add new dimensions to an already deep game. If you have been thinking of getting into Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War, then this is the PERFECT place to start. Great value for a great series of games. Hell yes! Get your ork on!
First of all, I have a tendency to turtle. I usually find myself worrying about resources. In this game, you gain resources by controlling choke points, which forces you to advance an expeditionary force. The game is therefore something of a hybrid with multiplayer "checkpoint control"-style games usually seen in an FPS. I also love how units are handled. You don't create a marine, but a marine-squad. The squad can be reinforced to include more soldiers and they can be given heavier weapons, all on the fly. This allows you to build your force faster and select them more easily, since everyone is in a unit-squad. If you care a lot about presentation, you won't be disappointed. An Ork Warboss, for instance, has to shake the corpse of say, an Eldar Farseer, off of his claw after impaling it for the kill. There are a variety of races to use and a variety of weapons and types of units. The Orks are good for swarming and pumping out tons of units in very-large squads. The Eldar are somewhat weak, but use invisibility, mobility, and spells to great effect. The Necrons are super-slow, but super powerful. There are seven races to choose from, thus too many to talk about. If you like real time strategy, you'll love this. It's like candy. If you like RTS games but always wanted more fighting and more unit versatility, the guys who made this were thinking the same thing. There is base building, don't get me wrong, but it's very clearly a means to an end. The end, of course, is either a massive, race-specific mega-vehicle to clobber your enemies or squads of other super-units stuck late in the tech tree to keep them from being incredibly broken. If you're a fan of the Warhammer 40K universe, I have to guess you'll like this too. If you're a purist for table top rules there are several mods in development and a few already released that deal with some discrepancies.

completely amazing!
this game is amazing!!! no flaws at all, got it cuz i used to paint these little guys when i was younger but sure they look kool but to actualy play a video game with them as my army is sooo much fun. and another great plus is the army painter feture where you get to design your own colors and flag for your brutal army. i give this game an a+++ for all ages .

AWESOME GAME PACKAGE
Awesome gaming package 3 games on 1 DVD. I was looking for just Dawn of War and The WInter Assault Expansion, but luckily found this PLatinum edition version of Dawn of War with the original game and the next 2 expansions. It was priced right and shipped fast. I'm very satisfied with the product.
