Joanne's Best Novel Since CHOCOLAT....
This was a WONDERFULLY written novel about a young girl and her dysfunctional family in a small French village during the war. Her father having been killed in the war and her mother having emotional and mental problems (obessive compulsive) and emotionally distant. Framboise, the girl, grows having to hide the secret of her past after her siblings and mother are chased out of the village during the war. Only Framboise knows the whole secret and even as an adult feels she has to hide from it by returning to the village under an assumed name. Soon Framboise's disguise is about to be blown and she learns to cope with her past and face the future and live with her true identity. Throughout the story she learns to love after a loveless childhood. Also through a recipe slash secret ...
