    i7-3540m Laptop Upgrade

    This is the fastest processor that HP installed 8470p Elitebook (there's is a "w" model with different specs). There is an error in the HP service manual for the 8470p describing the CPU as quad core, but the CPU is only dual core. The CPU was easy to install, and the original processor has residual value in low-mid $20s (i-5 CPU).

    A great upgrade

    Bought this product to replace my old and slow i3-3310M and it works FLAWLESSLY!! Everything is much faster now and now my laptop is capable of some light gaming, which I thought it would have not possible. I highly recommend to buy this thing if your laptop supports processor swapping and you need the extra boost from this.

    Highly Valuable in 2018

    The 3840 is a solid processor - competitive to many modern CPUs, even in Q2 2018. It’s not as power efficient, but, many computers that run this lithography (especially by Lenovo - T430, T530) don’t suffer throttling that affects performance, thermal or otherwise. You can’t get that kind of reliablility in the 7th, or even 8th gen Intel processors at this price point.

    Easy upgrade for faster processing.

    Faster than the previous chip. Replaced fan sometime ago in this laptop took three hours and had to tear it completely apart. Chip replacement was four cover screws remove cover remove heat sink R&R the chip and put it back together. Fifteen minutes.

    Excellent laptop upgrade

    Bought it to replace my i3 laptop (Toshiba C855 series) CPU. It's fairly easy to put place and perform much better than the i3. Although being an older CPU generation, it's more than enough for any intense productivity computer.
