    Superficial-claustrophobic-expialidocious

    The actors and dancers are very good and the R & H songs were delightful. Entertaining and amusing to say the least. Some individual numbers and songs were stand-alone pieces but did not work when put together in the same movie. It was more like a Las Vegas review show than a musical. This all-Asian cast might as well have been made up of Caucasians wearing eye make-up. This is an exercise in how to destroy the cultural perception of the Chinese and Americanize them. I am not Asian, yet as a white guy felt I was watching a bunch of actors who might look Asian but act American. This ruined the authenticity of the whole movie. Except for some brief breakaways to scenic film stock, it was like watching a movie on a stage set. Couldn't they at least have more sets?

    Truly a fantastic musical!

    Great for a sing-a-long! Love this film! Have always admired the work of Jack Soo, even if his singing is not opera great! This is one of my favorite musicals for its colorful depiction of the Oriental community in America's past, and for the excellent acting of all the main persons!

    “FLOWER DRUM SONG” the movie on DVD.

    I am very biased about this movie because my uncle was an “extra” in the movie and be clearly seen walking across the screen. Outside of that, the storyline and actual movie is one of pure entertainment.

    Dated but timeless!!!

    This movie has great songs...but turns out it is a little politically incorrect for today's taste. I was thrilled to find it on ebay. My favorite song: " What are we going to do about the younger generation?," and the teens' reply, "What are we going to do about the older generation?" Timeless American quandary!!

    I watched this movie when I was a preteen, I loved it then/I love it now! There was "NOT TO MANY ORIENTAL MOVIES" that the movie companies made back then and "WITH ENGLISH SPEAKING ACTORS/ACTRESSES" and it was a "FANTASTIC MUSICAL CLASSIC" too! A must-have movie! If you like classic movies or musical movies? Then this is one of those movies to have in your movie collection, because "IT FALLS UNDER BOTH A CLASSIC AND A MUSICAL MOVIE"!

    Flower Drum Song is a classic musical by the outstanding Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein. They just don't make movies like this any more. In this movie it was all about the characters and the music without special effects. I think everyone should see it to understand American theater and contemporary music.
