Close but not quite.
Though pride and prejudice is a good read, and good movies, this isn't as good as the BBC offering with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle. I do like the actors in this version I purchased. It's pretty good, but not my favorite.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Is this the same Pride & Prejudice that Jane Austin wrote about?
Costuming was needed, as was a proper hair dresser. A&E got it correct, with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth, and the Greer Garson , and Laurence Oliver 1940 film was more engaging than this. When Judi Dench came at night to question Keira Knightley, the candlelight made her features very ugly, Lady Catherine De Bourgh played by Barbara Leigh-Hunt in the A&E film was more forceful, demanding, and believable ! All in all this was not to be taken lightly or to be believed in any way... this was a sad film, that showed a sad family, and never connected any one part to the other. Tiny snip-its were give to us, and we could not glue the story line so it would hold any truth.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great Condensed Movie
Though this movie is only a 2-hour version of the original work by Jane Austen, it is a wonderful adaptation. Keira Knightley is officially one of my new favorite actresses! Think about your preferences in movies versus books.

Pride and prejudice dvd movie

I am very fond of the story and even though the movie is an abbreviated retelling, all the elements are there so I do not feel cheated. Big Mistake for me..
The quality of the video was horrible. Widescreen.. however, I was unaware that widescreen did not fill the entirety of the screen.. that forced the characters to be small.. as well then as blurred.. i wonder if it was a 'copy' rather than the real thing.. not worth the returning.. but I am extremely disappointed...Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Probably the best of the 'modern actor' versions of this Jane Austin classic!! The actors are all believable, energetic in their rolls, and the whole classic tale is retold with visuals that are sometimes just stunning. I bought this one as a backup to my first one.....
