Sony RMT-V501A Remote control for Sony DVD-VCR player
This remote control works perfectly well for my Sony SLP-300P DVD-VCR player. I can't make any comments on 'programming' the device as the only thing that I ask it to do is to turn it on/off, switch from VHS to DVD, eject DVDs or cassetts and fast forward/pause, reverse tapes and cassettes. Would be great if it worked!
When I went to put in batteries into the remote, I found that there was evidence of past battery corrosion and a LOT of it. Then I went in to program it to my DVD/VCR Combo (Sony SLV-100), and the remote doesn't want to cooperate. I cannot tell if this is because I have incompatible technology (which I should, being that the listing specifically listed that it was going to work with my DVD/VCR) or the battery corrosion cut the remote's life short.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Sony's difficult remote
Remote has poorly designed layout and is difficult to use. Button labels have poor contrast. Play button on my original unit broke long before player or any other button failed, in fact the DVD/VCR combo is still up and running well. Leaky battery damage
This Sony remote control was salvageable, but as it arrived, it was not in working condition. An inspection of the battery compartment showed corrosion due to leaking batteries. Using rubbing alcohol, q-tips and fine sandpaper made the remote functional. The exceptionally low price of this unit made this inconvenience worth it.
