Not Impressed
I wasn't really impressed with this one. Sure, the CGI was top-notch as was the acting. There was even some brief attempts at a "hand-off". However, while this prequel answered some questions and showed what happened immediately following Prometheus, the bulk of the story falls flat.
One thing that really bothered me is the updated tech - like all the fancy holographic displays, etc. If Prometheus and Covenant are BEFORE Alien, how is Mr. Scott going to explain the dramatic downgrading of the technology to match up with Alien and Aliens?
Another thing that bugged me was all the unnecessary "blood & guts". In Alien and Aliens it was proven that implied events create more tension and horror than showing every gross detail.
In my opinion, Ridley Scott should forego any more prequels and, instead, focus on a REBOOT of Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection. Call it Alien 3R and Alien 4R and pretend those two crap-tastic movies were never filmed. Why are all the great movies rebooted and flops aren't, anyway?
