I purchased this product to replace an old aging wireless router (Airlink 101 ar430w), The set-up was easy and effortless. Pros: It handled all my wired (including lan printer) and wireless gadgets with ease. They all connected fairly easily and the wps function worked great! The neat thing about this router is that you can switch it to a access point and also a repeater mode. This makes great uses for future purposes. For now it is my main router that I use and it works perfectly. The router is very solid and reliable but I noticed that there is a way to install DD-WRT firmware on it, and so I did the install and let me tell you this router went from a decent everyday router to a total beast! I then realized how powerful this little router actually was. One con I found was the physical feel to the router is "cheap" but then again it is not a high end one, well at least in my opinion.Read full review
SIX hours of screwing around with this thing and I still don't know for sure if it was DOA or just a piece of crap. I've set up many networks in the past and I know how to set IPs and SSIDs and all that basic stuff. It's not that complicated. Well, this thing just wouldn't see my cable modem for anything. I called my ISP and I updated the firmware and rebooted everything in a dozen different orders and this router was totally uncooperative. The worst part was how bad Asus support is. Their website is beyond worthless. It actively wastes your time as you try to find what you're looking for. It busy, poorly written, and badly organized when you want to get the latest manual in English or figure out which firmware to use. Blech. And there was no help or troubleshooting relating to what I needed on the Asus website, anyway. Asus' "Microsoft Bob"-like "Dr. Surf" is not only annoying and utterly worthless, it's also a racist caricature of an Asian man with a fat round face and slanty eyes to go with his terrible Engrish. What a (not funny) joke! Don't waste your time and money on Asus products. Linksys/Cisco, Netgear, and D-Link all offer perfectly good products with decent support.Read full review
Easy Setup. However the range appears to be less than the G series Linksys router I replaced. Also, my Brother printer will print using the print server, but it has some garble across the page making this feature unusable.
Although it was a bit difficult setting this router up, once I did it worked great! I am using it as an extender of my network but most importantly it allowed me to connect a network printer into it LAN ethernet connections and print to that printer wirelessly!
Excellent equipment, but when I try to download something, it goes crazy... all the other features functions good. The tool Donwload Master is very poor of features too.
