Digital Bathroom Scales

Digital Bathroom Scales

Many people like to keep an eye on their weight. It doesn’t matter if you are doing Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig or just watching your calorie intake, knowing whether or not you are losing any weight keeps you moving toward your goal. Those that want to monitor more than just weight loss have the option of purchasing body analysing bathroom scales that measure body fat and other body-composition metrics.

Large Display

To ensure you can easily read the displayed number look for scales that offer a large, backlit display. Since you are standing on the scale, you need to be able to read the weight from over 150 cm away. If you can’t see it and need to bend down to read it, you change the weight and don’t get an accurate reading.

Multi-user memory capacity

To help you keep up with your weight loss, some models offer multi-user memory, which keeps track of two or more people's weights. Storage goes in either an internal or cloud-based memory. It’s a very effective way to know where you started and where you are today.

Platform Size

It might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you start shopping for bathroom scales, but the size of the unit does matter. If it’s too small, you won’t get an accurate reading because you won’t be able to place both feet firmly on the surface and stand without moving until the scale registers your weight. However, you don’t want it to be so large that it takes up too much space in the bathroom and you spend all your time trying not to trip over it. What's more, non-slip pads on the bottom stop it from sliding when you step on it.

Weight Capacity and Increments

The maximum weight your digital bathroom scale will register depends on its maximum rating. On average, scales have a weight capacity of 136 to 158 kg. However, newer models are available with a capacity of up to 180 kg.
