The diner belongs to that limited group of Plasticville structures that can be used on a serious scale layout. The kit is the starting point, and how much it gets enhanced depends on the creativity and resourcefulness of the modeler. Things I have done (and will again) to add character to a Plasticville diner: a) Paint the blinds an ivory/manila color, and mount them farther back inside the glazing. b) Cut away the raised lettering on the sides of the door. c) Add signage on roof and on sides of door. d) Paint scheme: overall silver with lots of red trim, green roof, red-lettered signage on white. e) Add about 1/2-in. of brick or stone foundation.
