Probably one of the most compact sponge filters around in the market. You can replace the gravel in the device and fill it with zeolite or activated charcoal for added effect. Just bear in mind that activated charcoal is too light to allow the device to sink. What you can do is get a cheap metal washer/flange from the hardware/plumbing store. Insert it at the top so that it rests on the sponge and this weighs the device down so that it sinks. If you choose the right size, the top plastic cap can keep the metal weight in place. You can periodically squeeze the sponge using the metal washer/flange to flush out the algae.

It's a good size filter that doesn't create to much flow for my baby axolotls whilst providing enough O2 to my tank. You need to squeeze the air out of the sponge in the water to make it sink bu to overall it sinks and stays in play well. Very easy to set up and worth it for the price it sells for.

This filter is good for the amount you pay. Working well for my bettas so far, however it took a bit to work out how to get it to sink. The foam is so dense the air within the rock section cannot escape so you need to pull the foam away from the base. My only issue is that the items arrived with damaged boxes and the little pebbles from within the base absolutely everywhere.

It's really small so it's not a good filter. But I change the gravel in the filter to crushed corals or shells so it's releasing calcium carbonate in my water.
