To heat a small amount of water, for one mug of tea (which is what I wanted it for rather than putting on the kettle) it is excellent. The price was more than I thought it should be seeing I could buy a good quality kettle for less, but, to save electricity use, it does the job well.

Great little water boiler to save on expensive gas, especially with a small solar system. Only drawback is that it doesn't have an auto turn off, and to poach eggs it has to be on full blast boil the whole time. But love that you can heat soup and stuff, and it can be washed like a pot with its enclosed element.

My Birko is so handy when we go camping. Perfect for a fast cup of tea or to quickly heat any canned food when we want an easy quick meal. It would be a safer product if the manufacturer had included a switch on the Birko to turn it on. In some situations, it can be awkward and dangerous to turn it off at the main power source.
