I never read Laurell K. Hamilton's books, specifically the Anita Blake series until this summer. To say they are addictive, is an understatement. I'm reading them in order (something I highly recommend, to enjoy the character development of the main character Anita), and I find my other "to read" book pile is gathering dust as I swim through these books. In this alternate world, where life is very much as we know it, only the monsters have all come out to "play". Ms. Hamilton has made me laugh out loud, cringe with the vivid violence, and even cry as I totally love the character of Anita. Bloody Bones has magic, the undead, violence, etc., but, most of all it has vivid descriptions, emotions you can understand, and characters that you care about. If you like excellent writing, vivid scenes, characters that grow and like to get lost in another world as you read, this book (and the rest of the series) is for you.Read full review
I love the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton! Once you pick one up, you can't put it down! This particular book in the series is a little slower than some of the books in the series, but for those of us that also enjoy the Meredith Gentry series by Laurell K. Hamilton, this is the first time the world of Faerie has had any mention in the vampire series ... I won't say more so I don't ruin the surprise! If you've never read any of the Anita Blake series, don't read this one first! Make sure to read them in order, starting with Guilty Pleasures. As a word of advice, always read both the Anita and the Merry series of books in order. You can follow the story if you don't, but you'll miss much of the motivation and history between the well-developed characters.
bloody bones is book 5 in the series, and can be skipped, however there are a few interesting scenes with jc and anita and anita and jason. the back of the book says anita blake sinks her teeth into her work. but this day is busier than most. two jobs pop up that make even anita doubt her own capabilities: raising an entire graveyard of 200 year old corpses and finding out what happened to three missouri teenagers slaughterd in a way she has never seen before. the scene with the goat was heart wrenching..... other wise this has a mystery, and jc and jason. and larry kirkland. and again a case of the lady doth protest too much would have driven me away from these books if i didn't know what is coming. of course some people say books 1-9 are the best, while i lean towards 10-20
I loved this book. Anita can do it all. In this books she is asked to raise an entire graveyard full of 100 or more year old zombies. There is also a mystery why the old owner of the property doesn't want her to do it. All I can say is WOW. I love a good mystery and this one had me thinking. Anita not only raises the zombies but solves the mystery. She also gets covered in a lot of goo. This I guess is very typical for Anita. These books are great and give insight into the world of Vampires and werewolves. Awesome.
I love the book in fact i love all the books in the series up to this one. The character Anita Blake (a vampire hunter) and Jaud-Claud (vampire Master of the City) are like an odd couple she cant stand him and he is totally in love with her. I wont spoil the book for ya but i will say each of the books in her series all have an interesting twist for sure. LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM! If you liked the Twilight books this would be the more mature version!
