Absolutely fantastic. It's my favourite birding book that I've ever bought. I know there is a benefit to illustrated guides, but this photo guide is absolutely perfect for me. I love just looking at the photos of the birds and learning about them. But also it really helps me to determine the more difficult 'spots' I've seen when used alongside illustration, as I just find the real picture helpful. It's beautifully put together, with loads of detail on each bird including diagrams / maps.. There are even for comparisons for confusion species which is really helpful and saves time trawling through every bird if you've seen two similar ones. What I really like is that it includes EVERY bird ever seen in Britain.. No matter how rare or fleeting. Including hybrid Mallards. So this really is the most COMPLETE book I've ever had or seen as well.Read full review

An excellent well presented identification book showing brilliant photographs of birds, covering in flight over and under shots, seasonal plumage changes and juvenile differences. It has been well researched and the duration to aquire the images has been well worth it. A main reference book now for ID's throughout the birding year, and a boon to identification of that allusive bird shot or sighting.

The best guide for bird identification I've ever had. Brilliant pictures of the various stages of each bird (juvenile, winter, summer etc), the variants in colouring and includes all rare migrants/vagrants ever seen, even back to the 19th century! This guide will improve my enjoyment of bird-watching considerably. It is suitable for everybody from beginner to expert.

I don't know about you but I really struggle with bird books full of inaccurate illustrations or get sick of googling only to find that someone has mislabelled a bird #confused. I have really enjoyed using this guide to identify birds and would totally recommend it.
