I purchased this printer as a replacement for an earlier model Canon Printer which I had been very happy with. The cost of repairing this printer for the second time in 18 months made it more cost effective to buy a new printer. On the specifications available the PIXMA Pro 9500 looked like an excellent replacement, as it uses a 10 colour cartridge system, as opposed to my previous printer which utilises an 8 cartridge system. In addition, the price was around 50% of the normal RRP in Australia. However, the print speed of the Pro 9500 is terribly slow, and at this stage the ink cartridges are difficult to replace and are seriously overpriced ( twice the price as the RRP in the USA and the UK). I am now seriously thinking of having my older printer repaired as a standby, if ink cartridges for the Pro 9500 become difficult to obtain. I am at this stage still encouraged by the print quality of the Pro 9500, and hope that ink cartridges become easier to obtain.Read full review
