In 1990’s Britain, former travel agent Alan Conway began to impersonate the reclusive film director and Napoleon scholar, Stanley Kubrick. Although he knew little of the cinema of Mr. Kubrick, and did not resemble him – Mr. Conway preyed upon the people who wished / believed him to be Kubrick, and he flourished in the milieu of free drinks, sex, and holidays. COLOR ME KUBRICK, directed by Brian Cook, features John Malkovich as the verbally inventive and cunning grifter, Alan Conway. Ever the fashion plate (all costumes by Ken Russell's brilliant daughter, Vickie ) he manages to outwit, out-con, and avoid detection by the sheer force of his logorrhea. The wardrobe changes and faux accents curated by Mr. Malkovich as the fleshy and shameless Conway are unforgettable. Some have called Mr. Conway insane, but I prefer to think of him as a flawed opportunist. He didn’t financially benefit from the scam, and his joie de vivre wallowing in the guise of a borrowed self as portrayed by Mr. Malkovich is camp, and very funny.Read full review
I bought this DVD because I wanted to learn about this great story, based on a large part of the FACT that Alan Conway DID pass himself off as the famous Director Stanley Kubrick. What I liked most about this product is the FACT that the movie was well written, well-presented visually, and I will watch anything that has the Actor John Malkovich in it. Also I am well-versed in anything Kubrick, and am a big fan of the late, great Master of the Silver Screen. There is nothing about this product that I dislike. Yes, I would buy this product again; no regrets. I definitely would recommend this product to a friend.
It was fun laughable John Malkovich the best actor in history and I will always give him a good rating, the plot was original AAA+++..
