I bought this product for a friend who had "lost" the sound on her pc. The on-board sound had stopped working so a PCI sound card seemed like the best way to go. The Creative Sound Blaster CT-4810 was easy to install and I liked that Windows XP recognized it right away and I didn't have to install a driver -- the XP drivers did their "plug and play" thing. The card works like a charm; my friend's sound is back and it sounds very nice. She is a happy camper. I would recommend this product to others.
I bought this sound card to relieve my on-board sound card because it did not sound good at all. I use Xubuntu 14.04 and am trying out UbuntuGnome and it made Pulseaudio crash in Xubuntu and switched over perfectly in UbuntuGnome. Reinstalled Xubuntu and now works perfect. I just reinstalled because I didn't feel like researching and correcting the problem if it was possible. Product sounds great!!
This card works perfectly in Windows as expected. Sounds great with every game I have tried since installing it on my Windows 98 computer. Due to the change in how FM Synthesis/OPL2/OPL3 work this card does not sound great in DOS apps. If you want to build a retro DOS machine please get a different card. If you want to play Windows titles this card combined with the 8MB wave table is a great deal!

This sound card runs perfectly in my Windows 98 gaming rig. It has a built in SB16 ISA emulator to run DOS games. I have not encountered any issues yet. Tested with: Jazz Jackrabbit, DOOM, Space Quest 2, King’s Quest III, Quake.

Having a integrated sound failure on a good main board was no reason o trash the entire computer when it is easy enough to just disable it in the BIOS and install this PCI card. Here's to another 5 years of service for this dual core 2.5 gHz system.
