If you are looking for a descent tape deck that doesn't empty your wallet, this certainly fits the bill. I can't vouch for long-term reliability too much but I can say the one I bought works flawlessly. The tape transport is solid and the sound is superb. The features are basic but enough and well-thought out. the most useful are: a mechanical counter, a memory stop button, Dolby B and C noise reduction and the tape bias adjustment. Less bells and whistles, less stuff to break. The bias adjustment knob for recording really comes in handy when you want to preserve the high frequencies. The only problem is there are only two heads so getting the record level perfect is difficult. I'm sure there are better sounding decks out there but to my ears it sounds great. The only real gripe I have is the headphone output is WAY too loud and non-adjustable. Don't underestimate the power of analog; many albums released on tape were mastered better than the CDs were. You can hear the difference between types of tapes with this deck. This is probably not an audiophile deck but perfect if you just want one that works.Read full review

I was looking for a replacement for my Marantz 4010 and I found it! Very good sound, nice recording capabilities and an excellent value. With Dolby b & c and mpx filtering exactly what I was looking for. I surprised my son in law for Christmas and He was pretty excited. Nice solid build and very easy to use. Highly recommended.

30 years old and sounds like new. Played my cousin's wedding audio tape on this deck and it sounded great. I recommend using audacity to clean up some of the old analog audio ghosts for free.
