While it is now outdated, this has turned out to be a very good product. Here in Australia much of our internet connectivity is delivered via the National Broadband Network (NBN), and those of us in some urban areas receive this service via "HFC" -- hybrid fibre cable. This is basically the old cable TV system revved up with additional repeaters. It's not too bad, though it is sensitive to net usage by all users on a single trunk line -- whenever the footy is on, it's difficult to stream a movie. One aspect of HFC the providers don't talk about is that you are supplied with a modem, and all you need to connect is really just a router. It's a good way to save a bit of money, or upgrade to a better device. This Draytek enables you to not only provide additional security, but with a bit of effort, you end up with a "fallover" system, so that when the NBN goes down (which it does two or three times a year) the system switches to a 3G wireless modem connection instead.Read full review
