I needed an e-SATA connection on my laptop for backup to an external hard drive ( I make system images every few months for my and my wife's ThinkPads, and discovered Lenovo left them off of the T430 after having them on the T410 and T420 ) Since they work better than the SATA to USB adaptor that came with the external drive kit, I ordered the AKE e-SATA 2.0 Express Card. The adapter itself is a typical stamped steel cover on a plastic body, pretty well made, should last awhile especially if it's left in the laptop port. It comes with a universal mini-cd of drivers which I didn't bother trying since it would be difficult if to have to install drivers when I was trying to do a recovery and use a startup disc to re-image the hard drive. I started the laptop and inserted the adapter and the native driver catalog of Windows 8.1 quickly installed it as a Standard SATA ACHI Controller in Device Manager. This is what I was hoping for, so I shut down the laptop and booted it up with the Windows 8.1 install / recovery disk and went to the advanced recovery section to install a system image. With the external hard drive attached it easily found the previous system images from the T410 and T420, so I knew it could find any T430 images I'd make. I imaged the T430 and a T400 I use as a video player with no problems, so this adapter should work well with any Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 system.Read full review
