I got this last week. No smell whatsoever as the liners that slide into the very bottom shelf of the tray, similar to a crumb tray in a toaster, absorb the wee as it passes through the litter pellets on the sieve layer, straight into the drip tray onto the liner. I have 2 cats so I changed the liner every day but have just ordered another litter tray so they have one each. The pellets stop any poop or wee smell and they don't disintegrate or get wet and mushy like most other kitty litter does.
