The printer is a really nice one which is why I bought it. However it was almost Impossible to install printer. An instruction manual should have been added to the package. I tried for three hours to install it myself even downloading new printer driviers. Finally I got a USB connection to my laptop, but could not install it wirelessly. Had to hire someone to do it for me. Don’t know how he did anything different than I had tried but at least it works now. Also the ink cartridges that came with it were low which was OK because it was a used printer. But when I added my new ones it’s still Not giving true color. Bottom line is I mostly use it for black-and-white and that printing looks great. The printer cost me $60, the cartridges are about 70 and the technical help off the Internet was 225. Pretty expensive deal I think. I am getting so jaded but it’s par for the course.Read full review

Product was described as new-open box. This printer was used prints, but gives a lot of problems. I will probably use it to print envelopes. It suffers from a lot of paper jams., can not handle thick photo paper

This is my second HP B209A printer. Print quality is good, I also like that you can print 4" X 6" photos with it, or what ever size you want, up to 8" X 10" but it stores that size photo paper separately so is handy. Takes a while for the print head to locate itself so all that buzzing around when it starts can be irritating but over all, a very good unit. First one lasted eight years, will see how long this used unit lasts.

My previous printer was nothing special and almost 6 year old. It was time for an upgrade and I wanted to print wirelessly without spending money on a router. This one is a great wireless printer and it's easy to set up! Love the quality of pictures!! I have an android phone was able to send a picture from my phone directly to the printer. My old printer had a tray feed for scanning and was fax capable. I miss is the tray feed a little but the benefits of this printer are well worth the purchase. One big plus for me is that the printer paper has it's own compartment so you can put 4x6 or 5x7 photo paper in the printer and not worry about remember to change what paper is in the printer when you print.
i bought this printer as a replacement for an existing/failed B209a as my bulk ink system worked with this and a few other models. i ran about 40 reams of paper with high density printing though one of these before the print head died (read more below). it adapts readily to a "bulk ink" kit , especially if one carves some plastic on the left (inside) out. be sure to install the OCR software ! be careful with the software and firmware updates ... i had an older version of the soft/firmware and the machine ran just fine for a very long time. curiously , i ran just 25 pages through the machine after the most recent "update" via the HP software updater and the print head left this mortal coil. hmmm ... as the great bard wrote: "methinks something is rotten in denmark" i see used inkjet printers available on ebay (one of this type at this time) . some of the sellers actually opened the box. installed the ink cartridges and performed a test and alignment . this is all good and well, however, as anyone with some experience with inkjet printers will tell you, it does not take long for a "clogged head" to happen from disuse. some brands/models are more susceptible to this form of "failure" than others. as far as being able to un-clog the head once you get the (now used) machine, all the bets are off . pulling the cartridges is not effective in preventing these types of clogs. it would be better if the sellers of such machines had left them alone in the first place . i really cannot find anything to complain about with this printer . for the original price and what it is , it is a good value .Read full review
