These yarn winders have been around for decades with little to no modification to the design. As the saying goes, "if you are on a good thing, stick to it". The clamp is easy to adjust and holds well to the edge of a wooden table. It is easy to assemble and to fold up for storage. With the number of yarns that are very badly wound these days, this little yarn winder is a must for any avid knitter! The resulting balls of yarn can very easily be knitted from the centre of the ball which makes both hand and machine knitting a whole lot easier. It also makes recycling hand knitting a lot easier as you can unravel the knitted item whilst winding the yarn. No more knots and tangles. The spindle that has a slot on top that grabs the centre "end" and holds 4 ply yarn firmly. This slot also ensures you can always find the centre "end" when removing the finished ball from the spindle.Read full review

The biggest issue with this product is the very limited instruction on how to assemble it - two sentences only . Having put it together I don’t know how to use the three arms it has - it works perfectly well with two arms . The flat piece for ‘locking ‘ under the table is plastic and mobile so one continually needs to hold onto the whole structure. Not withstanding all this it does wind wool reasonably well - I couldn’t say whether it is good value as I have not tried the considerably cheaper one in Spotlight.

So much easier than rolling the yarn into balls by hand and then trying to keep the balls in one place as you crochet. Easy to assemble, easy to use, I hold the yarn to keep the tension a little firmer and it takes no time at all to do a 100g ball. No more pulling the middle out of the yarn and being left with a mess!

This wool winder is a good product. I have owned one of these previously, so picked this one because I knew it would do what I wanted. It winds steadily, with a good tension, and produces a nice evenly wound ball with the beginning length of wool easy to access. The ball of wool is the correct tension to pull out evenly whether you are hand knitting or crocheting, or using a knitting machine.

Decent quality product for the economy price that paid. Easy to install and able to wind yarn nicely. A little noisy during the process but it was fun, quick and produce a good result. Would recommend to anyone who want to wind their yarn for easy to use later without paying a hefty price tag.
