Works fine unless used in a circuit with screw in fluorescent bulb. Original unit burnt out when used in a lighting circuit with several screw-in fluorescent bulbs.

This beats flipping a breaker randomly and checking to see if the outlet or light is dead, but based on my limited experience to date, the circuit detective only gets you within a couple of breakers of identifying the one you're looking for. That helps, but you still have to do a physical check at the light or outlet to see which one of the two breakers is the correct one.

This is the same unit as the Klein. It is one of the best breaker-finders on the market, using some smarts to eliminate false positives. Can't go wrong! Note, the power-on button is very easy to press accidentally, so you'll want to store it with the battery removed.

I have used other circuit detectors. They take a while and some careful effort to be tuned in to properly detect which breaker is which. This detector tunes itself in. Initially it is best to follow the instructions. The orientation of the device is important. Eventually I got used to how it learned the breaker panel. I used it to detect circuits from three large panels in a large commercial building. The highly "sophisticated" $200+ detector I tried first only sorted out a couple wires. This detector found everything unerringly. It is a very good deal!
